Dr. M. PRABHAHAR
Professor & Head Department of Mechanical Engineering

Dr. M. PRABHAHAR was joined in AVIT as a Lecturer on August 2005. Later, he was promoted into various roles and presently positioned as a Professor and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Paiyanoor, India.

Academic and research Proficiency:

He has been in the teaching field since 2004 and actively involved in the innovating newer methods in pedagogical process. He has guided various UG and PG projects and also guides Ph.D. students since 2015. Under his guidance 4 research scholars have completed PhD and currently 4 scholars are pursuing Ph.D. His assiduous and prolific research work has earned him very good reputation in the field of bio alternate fuels. He has over 90 plus publications in highly reputed international journals, 34 papers in international and national conferences. As a boon to his active research, he was granted 3 patents. His main research area of interests includes Alternative fuels, LHR engines, IC Engine Performance and Assessment.

He is a Doctoral Committee member of PhD Scholars of many universities such as Anna University, Bharat Institute of Higher Education and Research, Dr.M.G.R Educational and Research Institute, St.Peter’s Institute of Higher Education and Research.
He has two text books, “Unconventional Machining Processes” and “Basics of Civil and Mechanical Engineering” to his credit which were published in the years 2015 and 2017 respectively.
He was a member of several technical executive committees on National and International conferences and potential reviewer of several journals, reviewing minimum four papers per month. He also delivered several guest lectures, invited talks, seminars and chaired session for various Conferences across the country. His research paper “Modeling and construction of bio diesel processor”, has been selected for the cover note article for the Global Journal of Research in Engineering, USA, Dec 2010.
He is the Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Transportation Management, En Press Publications, USA. Also, he is extending his meritorious service of being referee of many reputed journals. He is a member of professional bodies such as INSc, IAEng and ISTE.

Educational Credentials:

Dr.M. Prabhahar has received his B.E. Mechanical engineering degree from the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Tirunelveli, in 2002, Master’s in CAD/CAM from Anna University, in 2004 and MBA (Systems) from Alagappa University, Karaikudi in the year 2006. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, St.Peters University, Chennai in October 2012.
