IEEE‐ POWER & ENERGY SOCIETY

The IEEE Power & Energy Society is a worldwide, non‐profit association of more than 24,000 individuals engaged in the electric power energy industry. Our mission is to be the leading provider of scientific information on electric power and energy for the betterment of society and the preferred professional development source for our members. The PES members are involved in the planning, research, development, construction, installation and operation of equipment and systems for the safe, reliable and economic generation, transmission, distribution, measurement and control of electric energy. AVIT has an IEEE ‐ PES Student Chapter with a couple of faculty and student members of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering branches. Dr. Prof. V. Ramakrishnan, Dean, Energy, is the IEEE ‐ PES Student Counselor. The chapter is very active and conducts an ample number of regular programs benefiting the member community. The members also take part in the PES technical lectures conducted by the PES in other institutions. The AVIT IEEE ‐ PES chapter recently organized a technical seminar on "Green Power" addressed by Mr. K. V. Rupchand, Chairman, IEEE – PES Madras Section. All the IEEE members participated in the lecture.
