Information Technology -
Overview
The Department of Information
Technology was established in the academic year
2004-2005 and is guided by a senior academician
in the capacity of Dean with about 25 years of
teaching and research experience. The Dean is
assisted by the Head of the Department. The
Department has a dedicated and committed team of
faculty members with rich experience in
academics, research and industry. The faculty
members of the department are always
encouraged to attend the AICTE sponsored programs,
Faculty Development Programmes, and other
programmes for higher studies such as seminars,
conferences and workshops conducted in different
institutions and organizations across the
country.
The Department provides up-to-date and
integrative undergraduate educational
experience to our students in the field of
Information Technology. In addition, the
Department strives to prepare the students for
engagement with local, national, and global
issues and instills in students, ethical and moral
values related to good citizenship and community. The
Department aims to integrate the curriculum with
the marketplace needs and prepares the students for
careers in the public and private sectors or for
advanced graduate study.
The department has state-of-the-art
laboratories with an extensive network of computers
with updated configuration and the latest software.
Students are exposed to advanced technologies.
The laboratories are also enabled with 8 Mbps Wi-Fi
internet connectivity, which provide free access
to E-Journals, IEEE online courses, information
related to academics and research, etc for our
students and faculty.
The department has a vibrant
IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter and
the Association of IT Engineers. The IEEE CS student
members are provided free access to IEEE online
courses such as the IEEE Course on Software
Engineering, Mobile Networks, Wireless Networks,
Network Security, etc. The department conducts various events such as Conferences,
Seminars, Workshops, etc through this
professional society.
