Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, AVIT was established in the year 1998 as an affiliated institution under the University of Madras. It was later affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. In 2004, the institution was brought under the ambit of Vinayaka Missions University, Salem.

Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology encompasses a sprawling  48.7 acres campus with a built-up area of 5.65 lakhs sq.ft. AVIT is an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution with the major programmes accredited by the NBA-AICTE. The college is committed to impart quality education to students from different socio-economic backgrounds. It offers under-graduate programmes in 14 different disciplines and five post-graduate programmes including the Master of Computer Applications and Master of Business Administration courses.
